7 days 7 looks with Melis from Rock and Grey

I have some exciting news to share: there is a new series on SILKsofine.com, introducing people with great style from around the world. 7 days 7 looks is a feature that actually I did myself as well, for a danish website a while ago. You can get inspiration for go to looks for work, weekend leisure or date nights – anything that life throws us to dress up for 🙂 . This is the very first feature, hope you like it!

I have got to know Melis, the face and heart of the young fashion blog Rock and Grey, through Instagram – such a great platform for inspiration. Melis originally comes from the US but after earning her MBA at the University of Chicago she followed her boyfriend to Europe, and currently resides between Miami and London. Melis’s sophisticated style is fuelled by her former experiences she gained at Ralph Laurent or Audemars Piguet and she is presenting her passion for retail and fashion on her very stylish blog.

Check out her absolute feminine and high class looks through 7 days a week, including her personal notes about each outfits. Enjoy!

Monday

This season, rainbow themed outfits are everywhere and I just love how soft pink looks with rainbow colors. However, I really wanted this look to be suitable for the office too. The skirt is definitely a little “body-conscious”, which is why I paired it with a looser sweater to tone it down. For a more summery look, you can swap the high-neck sweater for a lighter V-Neck option that you can even tuck into the skirt.

This is my go to look for work. I am very lucky that I work for a tech company so I get to wear whatever I want in the office. I am so happy that boyfriend/loose jeans are back in style because not only are they perfect for a Monday after you’ve had too much to eat over the weekend, but they also look absolutely amazing with a fitted blazer. In my opinion, Current/Elliott has the best boyfriend jeans, they are a bit pricey but you will wear them over and over again.

This dress is perfect for any occasion but I have to say that I wish it was a tad longer. As I’ve gotten older, I started to prefer slightly longer hemlines. However, you can easily lengthen any dress you have so don’t get stuck on the length and instead focus on the overall look of the dress. I mean, isn’t that what Kate Middelton does? I added my go-to belt from ASOS that I have literally worn non-stop. I paired the whole outfit with my favorite Stuart Weitzman shoes.

I recently went from blonde to brunette, which is why I chose this very bright blue to emphasize my new hair color. Loose off-shoulder tops and dresses are a must have this summer and this GBP 30 dress from TopShop is pure perfection. Besides, it’s also a perfect look for all expecting moms out there. I could have also worn it with higher heels or with flats since this dress is suitable for both casual and more dressy occasions.

I love a good frill skirt. This skirt definitely has an Isabel Marant look to it but for a much cheaper price. When I wore it, my boyfriend, who is usually oblivious to my clothes, complimented me on my skirt, which proves that this skirt is both sexy and cute! I paired it with my favorite summer staples: my cream IRO jacket and my Ivanka Trump wedgies that I got on sale in NYC last summer. Funny story: I actually twisted my ankle the first time I wore them and fell flat in the middle of a busy NYC street… Yes, embarrassing moments happen to all of us!

It’s no secret that I love to wear hats in both summer and winter months! If I have one advice for you is not to be afraid to wear a straw hat in the city. I understand that you would usually associate a straw hat with a beach look but I think this look is really cute for a brunch day in the city too. I am wearing my new obsessions: the Gucci pearl loafers and a pair of frayed jeans. Definitely a must have in your closet this Spring/Summer and there are a ton of affordable options. My jeans for instance are from Zara and you can find a lot of similar loafer/mules at high street retailers.

This look is so lady-like. Of course, the Chanel jacket is the cherry on top of the cake but you can find a lot of tweed style jackets for a lot less and the dress is a cheaper version of the ever so popular Self-Portrait dress. This look would be perfect for a fancier summer dinner. I do think that white is timeless!
