Dress for fall: turning an old sweater into a dress

I was digging deep into my closet the other day, organising it, just as I do every year when seasons are changing. I like to put the actual clothes for the season more to the front to have an overview of everything. So, while I was getting everything into order I have found a lot of stuff I totally forgot about. And these discoveries are perfect for bringing some creativity out and make use of beloved things again – a little different way this time. Versatility is a king, so why not to wear an old sweater sometimes as a sweater dress.

This green sweater by Acne Studios was a very important piece when I was expecting my little girl – more than 4 years ago. Acne is a master of oversizing and this sweater is so big that me and a 4000 g baby in my belly (oh yes she was big) could fit very comfortably and stylishly into it. The length is on the edge and when I was pregnant I couldn’t wear it as a dress, cause my belly was making it look even shorter in the front. However now, with a much smaller belly that is left there, it works as a short sweater dress. I still feel more comfortable wearing it with a pair of over the knee boots, cause the boots are kind of covering. Or at least make me feel like that. But those, who don’t mind, can wear an oversized sweater as a dress with any kind of shoes. I will definitely try the same sweater dress with brogues like this one and over the knee socks. Kind of the same concept but still a different look.

Also, if you want to add a little extra length then just layer the sweater over a long shirt or shirtdress. It would look awesome as well! How would you wear your sweater dress?
