‘Since the first MATCHESFASHION store opened near Tom and Ruth Chapman’s home in Wimbledon in 1990, it has become a brand in its own right – an iconic retail experience, trusted by London’s most fashion literate clientele, offering the best of the best in established and new international labels….’Keen to hear more?
We are happy to introduce you MATCHESFASHION.COM that is indeed your destination for the best of the best of cutting-edge, international luxury fashion for men and women. Besides its online platform it has thirteen stores across Notting Hill, Richmond, Wimbledon, Mayfair and – most recently opened in March 2008 – Marylebone High Street. Established in 1990 by Tom and Ruth Chapman close to their Wimbledon home, the company counts as a true pioneer in the history of luxury retailers and e-railers. Apparently MATCHESFASHION has become a brand in its own right, let’s see why:
Luxurious? It offers the latest womenswear and menswear designer fashion from among others Diane von Furstenberg, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, MaxMara, Burberry Prorsum, Chloé and Christian Louboutin as well as introducing new designers from across the globe both online and in-house.
Exclusive? Entirely! MATCHESFASHION keeps teaming up with cooler than cool brands for the sake of selling exclusive goods. They’ve previously launched exclusive capsule collections with brands like Preen, Erdem or Vivienne Westwood.
Customer-oriented? Obviously! Regardless of where you are in the world you can still experience MATCHESFASHION.COM‘S luxury service online through their My Stylist team, offering a personalised shopping experience with unrivalled styling advice and fashion recommendations tailored to your tastes and requirements. Not to mention the free-return policy, neat packaging and the divine logistics that applies on every segment of their business. Speaking from experience, f you choose to visit any of their stores in person, the service becomes even more exclusive thanks to their excellent staff!
Cool and interactive? Indeed! Besides their gorgeous palette of ever-trending-goods, each week MATCHESFASHION.COM produces two issues of The Style Report – a men’s and a women’s digital magazine, each with their own homepage, featuring a blend of editorial features, columns, news – all in one curated space. They also produce a biannual print magazine since Autumn, which I was lucky enough to find in my postbox, staring no one less than Julia Restoin-Roitfeld.
Our MATCHESFASHION picks mantra is ‘choosing timeless over trend- obsessed’ – all in white:
MAXMARA Letizia dress
Once Coco Chanel said, ‘Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance.’ – now these white timeless pieces picked by us pay homage to the genius person she was and to our favourite time of the year, Spring. This season Max Mara joined a host of designers embracing the breezy white dress, and Max Mara’s Letizia style is one of the best. Made from soft cotton, the silhouette is made ultra feminine with wide shoulder straps, deep V-neck and a full pleated skirt. Style it with white whether you are off to festivals or a romantic Sunday dinner by the beach.
STELLA MCCARTNEY Faux-leather and mesh espadrilles
Espadrilles were always in, as they are now and will be in the future too. They have long been a summer staple thanks to their easy-going appeal, and Stella McCartney joins the party for Spring/Summer ’14 with this white pair. They’re crafted from breathable mesh and eco-friendly faux-leather and work just as well in the city as they will by the beach. Definitely the best friends of the woman constantly being on the go and is sporty enough to use her feet instead of the cab.
JIL SANDER Studded leather pouch
Jil Sander has long been a master of minimalist style, and this leather pouch is the perfect complement to an understated ensemble. It comes in the colour of the season – white – and features plastic grommets across the front. Use it as a lo-fi clutch both day and night, on and off-duty.
EMAMÒ Embroidered and beaded bikini
A white bikini is the perfect way to showcase sun-kissed skin, and this embroidered style from Emamó is intricately detailed for a pretty finish. Bead embellishment adds a hint of sparkle to the triangle top, while tassels adorning the briefs enliven the look. Another good thing about purchasing your dream bikini is that it will keep you motivated sports-wise until the beach weather arrives!
DANNIJO Miley earrings
There’s a sense of Old Hollywood glamour to Dannijo‘s designs. Handmade in the label’s New York workshop, these Miley earrings are crafted from white enamel and Swarovski crystals, but work equally well with a cashmere knit airy summer gowns. When it comes to styling I do prefer having a statement piece of jewellery rather than an excessive garment to wear.
