Our obsession with online retailer Mytheresa is quiet obvious on SILKsofine and in the followings you will definitely see better why. Launched in 2006, Mytheresa originates from an established retail environment within Germany. And what makes this retail environment attractive season after season? Well one of the reasons could be that Paula Reed, formerly Harvey Nichols fashion director and before that Grazia style director, has just been appointed creative director of Mytheresa. Wondering what will she bring? Buying Director Justin O’Shea answered in an interview for drapersonline.com: ‘A new level of sophistication to the look and feel of the site. Her experience in the fashion industry is unquestionable. Not only in her taste, but her journalistic point of view is very insightful.’ In my reading it means we can be assured that the collections sold on Mytheresa are coming from real fashion gurus who know how to make perfect balance between season’s hits and what WE want to wear.
Besides Mytheresa offers goodies via an extremely user friendly website – it is very important for me! There is no worse than trying to navigate at an e-shop with fantastic content but complicated menus and even more complicated payment methods – that’s not the case by Mytheresa and I really appreciate that. Carefully edited selections of today’s top brands and emerging collections are presented for sale for fashion savvy customers, hassle free, 24 hours a day, and shipping worldwide. That’s what matters to me when online shopping.
But other than that, lets see what the season has for us style-wise. Definitely some proper glam thanks to Dries van Noten’s golds and Marc by Marc Jacobs ’ laid-back sequins. To balance glam, ‘trashy’ rock chic items will hit the stores too showcasing leathers, prints, raw edges and loose knits thanks to Acne, Saint Laurent and Isabel Marant. For the chilly summer nights the stores stocked up on some oh-so-cool bombers, crisp tennis skirts and sneakers – for the sporty minds with crave for timeless pieces from Wood Wood or DKNY X Opening Ceremony. One of your greatest buys though for sure are going to be some alluring transparencies featuring laces and chiffons to show a slither skin here and there straight from Erdem’s, Burberry’s and Stella McCartney ’s fantasy. Though Mytheresa does not only have new collections for us but as well some new brands, all falls into our “favorites” list! See below my Top 3:
Each x Other: The Parisian-based label is known for bringing together creative minds from the art and fashion world through collaborating with different artists and designers each season to create a unisex wardrobe that will become a capsule piece for everyone. The brand stands for timeless pieces that are blurring the boundaries of menswear and womenswear by creating androgynous collections season after season. The brand is aiming to constantly promote the idea of shared wardrobe for men and women with references to classic menswear pieces such as the biker jacket and the simple white shirt with a feminine twist.
Dannijo: The Snyder sisters grew up in sunny Florida where they started to create their boho-chic jewelries — made of oxidized metals, dotted with colorful stones and studded with shards of crystal. The oversized statement necklaces and armbands, just as their delicate range of fine jewellery line are definitely belong to the never-want-to-take-them-off category. Last Autumn the New-York based designer duo teamed up with Rashida Jones on a ultra-delicate gold jewelry collection called Fine by Dannijones. Both lines are something called overwhelming!
Wood Wood: Last but not least it’s again about having a soft spot for Denmark this time thanks to one of the coolest brands of the now; Wood Wood. The Scandinavian brand opened their first store in Copenhagen selling sneakers, skateboards, collector toys and art books many years ago but it still has its marks on the image of the brand it became by today. Wood Wood signifies urban street fashion from Denmark with a cool approach to both high fashion and sportswear detailing for both man and woman. For those who suffer from #fomo (fear of missing out), it’s a good idea to head over to Mytheresa and start shopping because such cool things get sold out real fast!
