Warm and Cozy: The Wide Leg Pants

Wide leg pants, yes or no? If you asked me a few weeks ago I would surely say that they look wonderful on some people, but I am definitely not one of them. But I never had them on before, so what would I know, right? Then one day I walked by Zara and this happened:

There is something about this exact pair of pants: it is a wonderful mixture of everything I like. Fabric, pattern, cut. Herringbone is a timeless pattern, a little maybe too characteristic for my taste when it is on huge surfaces like for example on an oversized coat. But on this soft and thick wool-like fabric (24% wool) with just the perfect wide leg cut it looks wonderful in my opinion. But you surely need high heels for these pants, unless you like to step on them while walking or you are 190 cm tall. I am 177cm tall and adding 9 cm high heels the pants fit perfectly. A perfect wear on late summer/early fall days like this was when we were shooting. And it is totally versatile, styling it with simple black tee is the casual version, crisp white shirt makes the outfit more elegant or an oversized chunky knit would bring some Scandinavian coolness to the look. I am sure I will try both. How would you style these pants?
