To be honest I have never been a crop-top-type of girl and it was probably one of the furthest thoughts of mine to ever wear something that shows my belly. And then this happened.
The big top hits of summer 2015 such as strapless style like this one from Freepeople has been constantly in my radar, but I just couldn’t go so far out there. Showing my belly is not exactly my thing, especially not after having someone living inside of it for nine months (I love you!!). And anyway, cropped tops are a trend that comes and goes and to be honest I have quite rarely seen any really classy version of them. Until this summer. Tibi’s creation was the first I have found really beautiful, but was sold out in a blink of an eye (see here on Aimee from Song of Style – her Instagram account is worth to follow among my list). But now I have found this pretty piece at Zara. The good thing is that combining the cropped length with a high waisted skirt – or in my case high waisted long, wide leg pants- solves the “not-going-completely-out-there” dilemma: it shows a little bit of skin, but not the full belly. Perfect for my kind.
I toned the accessories down because the top is quite voluminous, and I only added an originally long necklace I purchased on my last stay on Ibiza (read about it here). I folded the necklace and tied loose together. I adore the tannish/brown pearls, it looks fabulous on tanned skin! Sunglasses and wooden slides are from Gucci – the slides are pretty old but wooden soles are having their return, so I am glad to be a type of girl who saves her very favorite pieces ages long (circle of fashion)..
I can say this little crop top is my very favorite top of this summer, versatile, pretty and breezy. Just as it should be for feeling free. Do you have a favorite summer piece? Would love to see! xx
