To build up a practical winter wardrobe, one has to start with the coats and the shoes. These pieces are the keys throughout the season. Each winter I tend to buy a few coats: a classy one because I’m truly in love with it and I obviously need it, the next one because it’s SALES time, and they are oh-so-cheap, and another one because I realised that I need some colour actually so a blush pink or an orange shade should cheer me up on the greyish days. I’m recently falling for coats like Ganni‘s piece above. It’s rather warm and stylish and comes in a lovely colour combination of burgundy and black. As for the shoes, I have biker boots and sneaks from the previous seasons so I’m definitely in need of a more feminine silhouette. I find Saint Laurent‘s western-style ankle boots quite suitable as it has mid-heels and look amazing both with skirts, skinny jeans and leather pants. I’ve just realised that when it comes to winter I tend to go with the flow and stock up on mostly black, grey, white and burgundy essentials. Of course it does not mean that I don’t do colourful things once in a while but the shades of neutrals feel very natural to wear. I also don’t mind wearing skirts or dresses in the minus degrees with warm tights and pretty shoes and while searching for one I came across this classy dress above by Max Mara. The piece is beyond versatile and will be your bff when it comes to business lunch, a crazy night out, or a city tour with your guy. Else a good pair of sneakers, pretty jewellery, cosy scarves and sweaters will make your winter days stylish and most of all warm. What are your ultimate winter essentials for 2015?
